State information

Idaho

A high-level overview of immigration enforcement activity, school protection policies, and resources for families and educators in Idaho.

Overview

State context

Idaho has no state law protecting schools from immigration enforcement and the state government has generally taken a cooperative posture with federal enforcement. The state has a significant immigrant workforce in agriculture, food processing, and construction. ICE is active in the Twin Falls and Boise areas.

ICE activity

ICE is active in Idaho, particularly in the Magic Valley (Twin Falls area), Boise metro, and southern Idaho agricultural communities. Worksite enforcement operations have targeted food processing facilities.

School policies

No statewide or widely adopted district-level school protection policies. Some individual school administrators in areas with large immigrant populations have worked to support families, but without formal policy backing.

Notes for advocates

Twin Falls has a significant refugee resettlement community as well as an undocumented immigrant population tied to agriculture. The community has faced political tensions related to immigration. Boise is home to a growing immigrant community. Advocates work primarily through legal services and community organizations rather than policy channels.
